Book Review - The Kite Runner

Book: The Kite Runner
(Author: Khaled Hosseini)

Not a horse, not an elephant and never a tiger. It is the son of a goat that is sacrificed!
God is indeed a betrayer of the weak!!!

Narrated in a cool, calm voice marinating a growing sense of tremor, which is frequently stretched, ‘The Kite Runner’ is a true testimony of cold war and hostile peace, and that too simultaneously. In spite of being a Hosseini’s debut, it is an eternity in itself, a riveting story encircling around the life of Amir, the son of a wealthy Kabul merchant, from his trepidation to his unforgettable quest for redemption. Unfolding the tale, Amir and Hassan, being closest of friends, put in all their efforts to win the local Kite-flying tournament. And all of a sudden, young Amir himself commits an act of betrayal towards his loyal friend, Hassan. But just like the kites battling in the sky, war intrudes in Afghanistan, wrenching them far apart. Still, life goes on..

The narrative suffers from implausible plot twists and uncanny coincidences. It has all to offer from bitterness of terrorism to the delicacy of an approbative woman. Unveiling the envelopes, it is about salvation of sins, a son’s longing for his father, a show of honesty and natural courage and an unscribable kinship with the old land.

I would suggest you not only to read it, rather experience it.
Cribbing it in one word: An eye-opener.

Excerpts:

“There is a way to bury the past,
there’s a way to be good again…
A way to end the cycle.”
